August Athlete of the Month

Ava Helms, our junior outside hitter who helped the junior varsity team with 4 wins out of 5 games in the month of August. Ava is a very committed athlete who shows up every day to practice ready to work and leads quietly by example. Her confidence grew throughout the season. In the month of August, Ava earned sixteen serve aces and twenty-six digs in five games. She is one of our team captains for the junior varsity team.

Sarah Walton, our senior outside hitter who played two sports: volleyball and cross country. Sarah led the team in two different categories: digs and serve receive. Sarah contributed 125 digs (13.8 digs per match) and 65 serves receive in the month of August (9 games). Her effort on the court has led to a fulfilling season and she leads by example and is a high honor roll student as well. Sarah never stops working hard during practice. She is one of our team captains for the varsity team. Congratulations, Sarah! - Coach Cassel


Jayden has performed well enough to earn the honor as Athlete of the Month in August. Both games were against Purdue Poly North and Maryland School for the Deaf. In passing, he had 15 out of 21 for 197 yards and 4 TDs. Also he ran 18 times for 256 yards and scored 6 TDs. Huge congratulations, Jayden! - Coach Paulone

Leon also earned the honor of Linemen of the Month. Leon has demonstrated great leadership, attitude and athleticism on both offense and defense. He is known as a monster on the field. For both games in August against Purdue Poly North and MSD, he had 5 solo tackles and 2 sacks and especially, he as a left guard, was the main reason for our wonderful offensive 54 points average per game. Melissa Eicher, 24:04, placed 9th out of 68 female runners. Outstanding participation and sportsmanship. Helping others is a noble and humane act! - Coach Gage

Melissa goes above and beyond to work with cheerleaders on new chants/cheers, not only during practice but after practice on her own time. She always remains positive, uplifting, and very supportive of her teammates. - Coach Blood
