Celebrating Excellence: Highlights from Our Fall and Winter Sports Awards

As the seasons change, so do the accomplishments of our incredible student-athletes at the Indiana School for the Deaf. On March 19, we proudly wrapped up the Fall and Winter Sports Awards, a special event dedicated to recognizing the hard work, dedication, and achievements of our young athletes.
This year, our awards ceremony shone a spotlight on a diverse range of sports, from football to wrestling, showcasing the talents and determination of each participant.
Football kicked off our awards with standout performances. Matthew Saaty was recognized for achieving 1,000 rushing yards, while Ansarullah Mia Khil earned the Coaches' Award and Zander Gonzalez was honored as Best Lineman. Cameron Sharer displayed versatility as the All-Around Player, and Matthew Saaty also took home the Most Dynamic Player award.
In Fall Cheerleading, we celebrated the spirit and dedication of our cheerleaders. Lexus Pleasant was named Most Improved Cheerleader, Denisse Sandoval received the Spirit Award, and Itzak Marquez was recognized as the Most Dedicated Cheerleader.
Our Cross Country runners also shone brightly, with Ansarullah Mia Khil earning the Most Determined Runner award and Aron Guesh recognized as the Most Dedicated Runner.
The Volleyball team had its own set of remarkable athletes. Ariana Starayev received the Coaches' Award, while Bailee Presley was named Most Outstanding Player. Jaiden Moses earned the Most Improved Player award, Tiana Starayev was recognized for her leadership, and Leokadia Saunders was honored as the All-Around Player.
Turning to Basketball, we celebrated both the JV and Varsity teams. Samual Davis, Jr. was recognized as the Most Improved Player in JV Boys Basketball, while Brent Eicher received the Coaches' Award. For the Varsity Boys, Zander Gonzalez took home the Coaches' Award, Nathan Rudik was named Unsung Hero, and Matthew Saaty was honored as the Most Outstanding Player. In Girls Basketball, Jaiden Moses earned the Most Improved Player award, Leokadia Saunders received the Leadership Award, and Tiana Starayev was recognized as the Most Valuable Player.
In Winter Cheerleading, Sara Guesh was celebrated as the Most Improved Cheerleader, Miranda MacMonagle received the Spirit Award, and Leokadia Saunders again showcased her leadership.
Finally, our Wrestling team displayed incredible talent and resilience. Ansarullah Mia Khil was named Most Improved Wrestler, Aron Guesh received the Mentor Award, Brent Eicher earned the Coaches' Award, and Matthew Saaty was awarded both the Ironman Award and Most Outstanding Wrestler.
These awards are more than just accolades; they represent the dedication, teamwork, and spirit of our student-athletes. By honoring their achievements, we aim to inspire all students to pursue excellence and develop lifelong skills through athletics.
