Superintendent's Message

I hope that everyone was able to enjoy the summer while being safe and healthy during the pandemic.  The Indiana School for the Deaf (ISD) opened its doors for the 2020-2021 school year to our students on August 31. Our Health Center, Operations, Housekeeping, Student Life and teaching staff continue to be on top of things to ensure that our students are safe while at school.

Although we were not able to gather in person, the ASL Run 2020 “Excel” Series was held virtually on September 26. I want to thank everyone who participated in support of our students. It was a beautiful day when I completed my 5K journey, and I hope yours was too. We will be sending out your medals and towels soon. Keep an eye out for them! Sponsorships for the 2021“Thrive” 5K event will be posted soon at

Our girls Varsity Volleyball team will compete against Eminence High School tonight at 6:00 p.m. on our home court (Caskey gym). The team is fundraising with tonight’s theme "Block Out Cancer". Please wear PINK when attending tonight’s game and support the team! Admission is only $5.00 and all proceeds go to the Pink Ribbon Connection. Please remember to wear your mask and follow our House Rules

October 12-16 is spirit week at ISD! We look forward to catching the spirit with special activities for students/staff throughout the week. Our Orioles homecoming will take place on Friday, October 16. Be sure to check our social media, @ISDOrioles, for more information regarding homecoming.

Be sure to mark our school breaks on your calendars: Thanksgiving Break on November 23 -27 and Winter Break on December 21 - January 1. School session will resume on January 4, 2021.

Stay safe, stay healthy, and help stop the spread. #ISDinthistogether
