Welcome back to ISD for the 2020-2021 school year! We hope you had a pleasant, healthy summer. Over the past few weeks, the Indiana School for the Deaf has been preparing and working hard to create spaces and instructions following COVID-19 protocols to ensure our students' safety when returning to campus.
We will begin our fall session on Monday, August 31. Families should have already received reopening communications within the past few weeks. If you have not, please contact your child's principal immediately to confirm your child is appropriately enrolled. We look forward to seeing students that we have not seen since March 16, 2020.
The Indiana School for the Deaf will remain closed to the public. Families with children attending ISD must contact their child's school secretary to arrange/schedule pick-ups/drop-offs (e.g. appointments during the day). Families should always remain in their vehicle while on campus when picking up their child. All school-related events and after school clubs are canceled until further notice. A reopening plan is available for more information.
We will kick off our ASL Run Series campaign soon. Please sign up for a virtual 5K walk/run to celebrate our community and make a difference for all Deaf students at ISD and support their academic journey. Watch for the campaign on our social media, @ISDHoosiers.
We will not have a football team this fall due to COVID-19; however, we will have a modified football program to allow our students to maintain their physical fitness.
Cross Country, Cheerleading, and Volleyball will continue with safety protocols. We will have our first Varsity Volleyball game, Thursday, August 27 @ 5:00 p.m. vs. Christel House Academy.
Home games will be open to ONLY ISD families and staff and opposing school families/staff.
If you have not, please check our Athletics House Rules for more information.
