Family Literary Night a Success!

On Monday night, February 9th, the Willard School held their annual Family Literary Night with prominent children's writer and illustrator John Steven Gurney the featured author. Over 60 families attended this special event. As part of the festivities, Mr. Gurney gave daylong workshops to the students, gave two separate lectures to parents and autographed copies of his current book, Dinosaur Train.

During the Family Literary Night, families and visitors were able to partake in watching students display their writing, creative projects and related class and artwork. They also were able to enjoy refreshments and to socialize with other parents on-site.

Gurney's visit was made possible by a sizable donation by the ISD PTCO during the 2014-15 academic year and he personally mentioned that he enjoyed every minute of his visit to the Indiana School for the Deaf. Brenda Smith was the chairperson of the Family Literary Night, and the ISD thanks her for putting together a fantastic event!
