Walter Palmer, Tuskegee Airman

Summer in the Skies students were very fortunate to share an afternoon with Mr. Walter Palmer,
who is one of World War II's Tuskegee Airmen.  He shared his experiences in World War II and the
prejudices he endured as a black fighter pilot.  He served as a piece of "Living History" and for a
couple of hours that afternoon, students saw World War II through his eyes.  When asked
which airplane he loved flying most, his eyes lit up when he talked about the P-51 Mustang.
He stayed long enough to answer questions, sign autographs, and pose for a group photo.
