Flying
at Metropolitan Airport
Fishers,
Indiana
The
most exciting part of Summer in the Skies is flying single engine Cessna
172's with instructors
at
Metropolitan Airport. Students log actual flight time that counts
towards a pilot's license if they
choose
to continue training at a later date. Students get to see ISD from
the air, as well as the
sights of Indianapolis. Students practice straight and level flight,
flying to a specific heading, shallow
turns, steep turns, changes in altitude, stalls, flying to different airports,
and avoiding Metro's deer
and coyotes while taking off and landing. Students learned how to
read sectional charts, obtain
weather briefings, plan cross country flights, and calculate wind correction
angles.
