More Directions for the
SOAR-High Quilt Project

  •  There are all kinds of lovely autumn fabric in stores right now, as well as
summer leaf patterns. Either one would be great for the border.
  •  The design above shows a possible layout for the wall hanging. You don't
have to follow this. It is only included as an example, so be creative!
  •  Have students draw or paint the GLOBE logo on one of the blocks.
  •  You will be provided with sheets of the "Creative Copy" photo transfer paper. Use a digital camera to take a photo of your class. Using a good color printer, print a backwards "mirror image" of the photo and iron it onto a quilt block. Make a quilt block for each teacher who is participating in this project and send it to them to include in their quilt.
  •  Use a digital camera to take a photo of the tree you are using for the ALTA spectrometer project. Also, take a photo of your students taking measurements with the ALTA. Use these photos with the photo transfer paper and iron the photos on to quilt blocks.
  •  Have students draw or paint images of the Earth and Sun on to quilt blocks.
