Scuba Classes at the University of Indianapolis

Beth Ann Culkin (ICHS)
 & Colin Analco (ISD)

Hi .... and Welcome to our CALYPSO website! Beth Ann and Colin are here to present information and photos of the amazing story of learning how to scuba dive. We began our PADI scuba diving classes at the University of Indianapolis. Our first class was on Monday evening, April 14th. The class was 6:00 - 10:00 pm for five straight Mondays. Each night we took a quiz and on the final night, we had to take a written final exam. For the first two hours, we had classroom time, watching a video, discussing important information, and taking a quiz. The last two hours of class was in the pool. There were skills we had to learn each week, such as taking off and clearing our masks, retrieving the regulator, basic scuba signs used under the water, and what it felt like running out of air. We also had to do homework every week, reading chapters in the book and answering questions on a "knowledge review." The evenings were very long and after a long day at school, it was very exhausting. It was definitely worth it. This was also the first opportunity students from both schools had to interact with one another. Within the first day of class, we got to know each other a little better. The classes were a good experience. We learned a lot and had fun doing it.
